A recent study by beverage company Waterboy has identified Florida as home to seven of the top ten sweatiest cities in the United States.
The study, which analyzed climate data from 80 cities, assigned 'Hydration Demand Scores' based on factors such as heat index, average temperature, dew point, and humidity.
West Palm Beach topped the list with a score of 58.9, spending 54.1% of the year above the National Weather Service's caution threshold of 80°F (27°C).

Why It's Important?

Residents and visitors in these cities face increased risks of dehydration, heat exhaustion, and heat-related illnesses due to prolonged exposure to high temperatures and humidity. The study underscores the importance of staying hydrated and taking precautions during the hottest months, particularly in Florida, where seven cities dominate the list. The heat and humidity can also impact daily activities, making outdoor work and recreation more challenging. Vulnerable populations, such as the elderly and those with pre-existing health conditions, are at greater risk of heat-related complications.
